Parent & Pupil

We believe that to achieve their full potential children need schools and parents to work closely together. To make this happen we focus on three key areas for improving home school partnerships.

Effective Communications

To make sure parents receive regular information in a format that suits their needs we use the online communication tool ParentMail2. This gives us the flexibility of using a combination of email, hard copy and text messaging to help parents keep in touch with everything that is going in school.

Supporting Learning at Home

To help parents understand how they can support their children’s learning at home our class teachers host parent workshops that demonstrate how we teach different areas of the curriculum. From phonics to reading to mathematics we aim to give parents an understanding of the techniques used in the classroom in order to ensure consistent teaching by both parents and teachers alike.

Recent feedback from parents:

“The session was really useful, I now know how to teach my child the various phonic sounds”.

“The teachers gave lots of valuable information as to how to teach my child phonics at home”.

Engagement in School Life

Finding ways in which parents can become involved in their children’s learning is a key element of our teachers’ planning process. To make it easy for parents to become closely involved in the life of school all our topic plans identify opportunities to involve parents.

For parents

Parent View gives you the chance to tell Ofsted what you think about your child’s school, from the quality of teaching to dealing with bullying and poor behaviour. The survey can be completed at any time; you don’t have to wait until the school is being inspected.
