Visit from ‘Big Joe’ Eagan and Waine ‘Homeboy’ Turner

On the 23rd of March 2018, the pupils of the Years 2 and 4 listened eagerly to the fantastic adventures of two superb boxers, Joe Egan and Waine Turner. The two heroes talked about the challenge of overcoming their personal hurdles when they were young: being bullied, lacking self-confidence, but having the resilience to achieve their dream of becoming successful boxers. Both men faced boxing legends such as Mike Tyson; they shared their adventures with the very inquisitive children of Khalsa Science Academy.

The children enjoyed taking part in a variety of sporting activities raising a total of £177 for Sports Relief

On Monday 5th March, as part of Science Week, our children took part in a workshop run by Cyclops Pedal Power.  Activitiesl included making circuits with LED lights and buzzers and a giant game of ‘Operation’.

There was also an school session which parents and children attended together.  The children (aided by their parents!) made DIY door alarms to take home.

On world book day in Miss Charlton’s class we were focusing on the story ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ by Oliver Jeffers. The reception children drew a picture to try and make the crayons happy while year 1 were designing their own crayons. In year 2 the children had to write a letter to persuade

Our children enjoyed watching a production of Aladdin by PAL’s Productions at school.  They also enjoyed a festive Christmas lunch.

The children took part in a Road Safety project aimed at injury prevention. The training was carried out by Road Safety Staff and involved identifying safer places to cross and practical road crossing skills using a pedestrian crossing facility.

The children baked Pudsey bear biscuits and made calendars, bookmarks and money boxes to sell. The day was a huge success and we raised a grand total of £274!
