Leeds City Council Admissions Consultation
Khalsa Science Academy is open to everyone. It is a non-selective school – applications are welcome from every child, regardless of their religion, race, gender, physical ability or special education needs. Our Admissions Policy follows that of Leeds City Council Schools Admissions and applications should be made directly with the council.
For the main admission round, all on time preferences will be considered simultaneously and ranked in accordance with the admission criteria.
The table shows you a timetable of key times in the school year.

If your child was born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015 they should start primary school in September 2019. You must apply for a school place between 1 November 2018 and 15 January 2019.
Speak to staff in the Admissions Team Leeds on 0113 222 4414, or write to them at: Primary Admissions, PO Box 837, Leeds, LS1 9PZ, to clarify any issues you are not sure about, especially about the admissions policy.
Letters telling you which is your ‘nearest priority school’ are sent out at the end of October. You need to know which your child’s ‘nearest priority school’ is because it is an important part of many school admissions policies.
We recommend that you apply online for your child’s school place. You can also apply using a paper form called a Primary common preference form (CPF). Alternatively you can pick one up from a school office or contact the Leeds Admissions Team.
However you apply you can include up to five schools as your preferences. You should put these in order of preference (i.e. your most preferred school at number one, and your least preferred school at number five).
The address you give on the application must be where your child lives for the majority of the time.
You will be sent an email with your offer letter attached on 16 April 2018.
If you don’t receive an email by the end of the day, please contact the Admissions team on 0113 222 4414, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
You should accept the school place you have been offered directly with the school. This will not affect your position on a waiting list or your right to appeal.
If you don’t get offered a place at the school you want, you can go on the waiting list for other schools in Leeds. You can also appeal against the decision. If you applied online you will receive your offer by email.
If you have received your offer but would prefer a different school you can add your child’s name to a waiting list before 28 April 2018 without going through the formal appeal process.
If you have not been offered a place at the school you wanted you can appeal against the refusal by 16 May 2018.
If you feel your child is not ready to start school at the time we are suggesting, please contact the Admissions Team who can advise you of your options.
